The pick of this weekend's Premier League action comes from Stamford Bridge, as struggling Chelsea host league leaders and Premier League champions Liverpool. The Blues currently sit eighth in the table with eight points taken from their opening six matches. Whilst Arne Slot's team remain top of the tree, it's been far from a plane-sailing start to the campaign. His team have often had to rely on late goals to win games and look more disjointed than last term with the new summer signings still bedding in.

Down the years, these two sides have provided some enthralling encounters. The 4-4 draw in the 2008/09 Champions League semi-final second-leg at Stamford Bridge was a game for the ages. There has also been somewhat of a theme of players representing both Chelsea and Liverpool in the modern era, with 14 players donning both shirts this century. The most famous of which is probably former Spanish striker Fernando Torres, who controversially moved to the Blues for a Premier League-record fee at the time from the red half of Merseyside. But who are the other 13 stars to represent both clubs since 2000?

Every player to play for Chelsea & Liverpool this century

We have ranked the 14 players by the number of total appearances they have made for both clubs combined, and leading in that respect is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian played just 19 times for Chelsea before they let him go - a decision they will have regretted no doubt. Since then, he has gone on to play 410 times for Liverpool and become the club's all-time top Premier League goalscorer. Second on the list is former England attacker Joe Cole, who played a combined 324 matches for both clubs. Then it's Torres who clocked up a total of 314 games. Full-back Glen Johnson managed 271 games for the Blues and the Reds combined.

Three more players managed over 200 appearances for both clubs combined - striker Daniel Sturridge (256 games), the currently out-of-favour Raheem Sterling (210 games), and forward Nicolas Anelka (206 games). Yossi Benayoun (158 games), Victor Moses (150 games), and Boudewijn Zenden (106 games) each managed to surpass 100 games for both clubs in total, whilst completing the list is Raúl Meireles (92 games), Fabio Borini (46 games), and Dominic Solanke (28 games).
