Goals & assists galore

Not many supporters will be surprised to hear that a Bayern Munich player has won the Transfermarkt Bundesliga Player of the Season award, but they may be slightly taken aback that it is not the division's top goalscorer retaining the award. The Bavarians once again claimed the league title this term. Harry Kane won the award last season (2024/25), but this term, despite scoring 36 Bundesliga goals, only finished second with 26% of the vote. Instead, his dazzling teammate, Michael Olise, swept in to claim the trophy with 43% of the vote.
The Frenchman has also been instrumental in Bayern's success this term, scoring 22 goals and providing a mouth-watering 31 assists in all competitions. He has seen his market value sky-rocket since moving from Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, and is now considered one of the best wingers in world football. Third place in the voting was actually HSV defender Luka Vuskovic, who is on loan from Tottenham.

How Michael Olise beat Harry Kane to POTS glory
Olise's first season in German football was more than adequate and he showed plenty of promise - he scored 17 goals and provided 21 assists in all competitions. However, this season, he has taken his game to another level, and truly cemented himself at football's top table. He is also in France's World Cup squad for this summer's tournament and is expected to play a key role. There were over 100,000 votes for TM's Bundesliga Player of the Season this term, but nobody could touch Olise.

At TM, we also have a breakdown of which player received the most votes for the positional voting (goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, attackers). In the goalkeeper category, the winner was Borussia Dortmund shot-stopper Gregor Kobel, who took 41% of the vote. In the defender department, it was Vuskovic who reigned supreme with 39%. When it comes to midfielders, Bayern's Joshua Kimmich stormed to 62% of the vote, whilst Olise received 52% of the votes for attackers.
