Scott McTominay has been ranked in 18th place in the Ballon D'or list, while fellow Scotland midfielder Caroline Weir was 30th on the women's ratings.

Paris St-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele took the men's award, with Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati lifting the women's for a third year running.

McTominay had been named as Serie A's player of the year following the 28-year-old's title-winning debut campaign with Napoli.

He has also made a good start to the current season and set up the winning goal for substitute Lorenzo Lucca in Monday's 3-2 win over second-bottom Pisa.

Fellow Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour opened the scoring for Napoli, his strike taking a slight deflection as the 24-year-old grabbed his first-ever goal in senior club football.

His previous two senior goals came for Scotland.

Gilmour had been handed his first start of the campaign in place of Stanislav Lobotka after being restricted to three short substitute appearances so far this season.

However, despite his goal, the former Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder found himself replaced with the Slovak after 58 minutes with the sides level at 1-1.

The narrow win means Napoli lead the table by two points from Juventus after four games.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's Weir will return to her home city of Dunfermline on 28 October when Scotland host Switzerland in a friendly at East End Park.

The 30-year-old was the first Scottish woman to be nominated for the Ballon D'or.
