Real Madrid enjoyed a perfect start to the new year, as they began 2026 with an emphatic 5-1 win over Real Betis to close the gap to rivals Barcelona at the top of LaLiga. Los Blancos were without superstar striker Kylian Mbappé, who missed out through injury. But no Mbappé, no problem, as Real Madrid youth product Gonzalo García deputised in some fashion. The 21-year-old Spaniard, who shone for Madrid at the Club World Cup last summer, fired in his first senior hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabéu. He had never previously scored in LaLiga at all prior to that match.

“All the goals today, it is an example for all the homegrown players who are working at Valdebebas [Real Madrid's training facility]," exclaimed a joyful García after the game. It was a special day for the young striker, but also one that puts him among the history makers for the Spanish giants. Here at Transfermarkt, we have calculated the top 10 youngest hat-trick scorers for Real Madrid this century. Let's find out where García ranks.

The youngest hat-trick scorers for Real Madrid this century

Leading the way is none other than Brazilian winger Rodrygo. After signing for Real Madrid as a teenager, he scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray aged just 18 years and nine months back in 2019. For second place, we have to go all the way back to 2002, where Spanish forward Javier Portillo scored a treble for Los Blancos aged 20 years and five months. Argentine Gonzalo Higuaín takes third, having netted a hat-trick aged 20 years and 10 months back in 2008. García's recent treble now ranks him fourth on the list; at just 21 years and nine months old he writes his way into the club's modern history.

Fifth place goes to Vinicius Junior, who scored his first Real Madrid hat-trick aged 21 years and 10 months in 2022. Higuaín is back again in sixth scoring a hat-trick aged 22 years and three months. Legendary French striker Karim Benzema takes seventh and eighth having scored two hat-tricks in one month in 2010, aged 22 years and 11 months and 23 years. Mariano Diáz takes ninth, scoring a treble aged 23 years and three months in 2016, whilst Higuaín's third appearance completes the top 10, with the Argentine scoring another hat-trick aged 23 years and four months in 2011.
