The transfer window slammed shut on Monday night for the majority of top leagues after another frantic deadline day. It was a record deadline day with €767 million spent by clubs, which eclipsed the previous record of €518m from the 2023/24 season. The biggest deal on deadline day was Alexander Isak completing his protracted move to Liverpool for an English transfer record fee of €145m.
It was another hectic summer window with clubs breaking the record for total spend. Over €9 billion was invested in new players, which eclipsed the record of €8.86b from the 2023/24 season. While the window has closed for the top five leagues, the transfer window remains open in some nations like Turkiyie and Saudi Arabia. Therefore final figures could still change but we’ve analysed which clubs generated the highest transfer income this season, using Transfermarkt data.
Which clubs generated the highest transfer income in the summer window?
Chelsea generated more than €100m more than any other club during the summer transfer window. The Blues raked in €332m through player sales and that total could still rise with several unwanted players linked with moves to the Süper Lig or Saudi Pro League. Chelsea currently have a positive transfer balance of €4.1m this summer, with Noni Madueke’s €56m move to Arsenal their biggest sale of the window.
As the graphic above illustrates, Bournemouth ranks second with €238m recouped from player sales. The Cherries lost three key defenders to European giants with Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid, Ilya Zabarnyi arriving at PSG and Milos Kerkez moving to Liverpool. Bayer Leverkusen are the only non- English Premier League side in the top five with the Bundesliga club ranking third (€230m). Liverpool were the biggest spenders this summer but they also rank fourth with €220m received from player sales.
