They say that scoring goals is the hardest element of football and that’s why attackers are paid the big bucks. Strikers and wingers regularly grab the headlines and the individual awards at the end of the season. For over a decade, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were the two most dominant players of their generation, sharing 13 Ballon d’Or titles between them.

Attackers will be viewed as the most important players on the pitch as they are often tasked with winning games. Clubs spend billions every summer to strengthen the firepower in their squad, with the record signing this summer being Liverpool’s €145 million acquisition of Alexander Isak. Using Transfermarkt's famed market values, we’ve analysed which clubs have the most valuable collection of attacking players in their squad.

Real Madrid are the most valuable squad in the world at €1.4 billion and they also have the most valuable collection of attackers. The seven attackers in Madrid’s senior squad have a combined market value of €553 million with Kylian Mbappé their prized asset at €180m. Manchester City rank second with their seven attackers’ total value standing at €525m - Erling Haaland is City’s most valuable star at €180m.

As the graphic above illustrates, Arsenal rank third with Mikel Arteta strengthening his attacking ranks this summer with the acquisition of Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke. Reigning Champions League holders PSG rank fourth and Barcelona are in fifth with Lamine Yamal the most valuable player in the world at €200m. Unsurprisingly, there’s six English Premier League clubs in the top ten with Galatasaray the highest club outside of the top five leagues in 16th (€253m).
