After Major League Soccer kicked off the 2026 season last weekend, Transfermarkt has provided market values to seven players who made their league debut, including 16-year-old Red Bull New York midfielder Adri Mehmeti. After leading New York Red Bulls II to an MLS NEXT PRO championship as the captain last fall, Mehmeti made his starting XI debut under new head coach Michael Bradley in a 2-1 win over Orlando City on Saturday. Mehmeti provided the assist to what would turn out to be Julian Hall’s winner.

First ever market value for MLS talent

The central midfielder, who trained with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig—and featured for the U19 in a U21 Premier League International Cup match against Man City (3-1)—this winter, is considered one of the biggest talents in MLS this season. Only 16, the New York native with Albanian roots is a typical playmaker, capable of breaking deep-sitting defensive lines. Sources within the Red Bull organization describe him as the biggest talent to come out of the New York Red Bulls academy since Tyler Adams. Considering Leipzig’s interest and his ability to produce at this level at just 16, Transfermarkt has opted to give Mehmeti a starting market value of €1 million, ranking him among the ten most valuable players born in 2009.

Mehmeti wasn’t the only young player to make his debut for Red Bull New York this weekend. Indeed, it appears that Bradley wants to place a strong emphasis on young players this season. Aside from the 17-year-old Hall, who was featured in the 2024 Transfermarkt Talents Calendar, and Mehmeti, Bradley also started 17-year-old Matthew Dos Santos at left-back. It was Dos Santos' debut, with a starting market value of €500,000. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Tanner Rosborough came off the bench and received a starting market value of €250,000.

First market value at 23 – Stas Korzeniowski makes debut for Philadelphia Union

Four other players also received their first-ever market value. The oldest is Philadelphia Union center-forward Stas Korzeniowski. Three years ago, Korzeniowski was playing in the USL League Two for Ballard FC while also featuring for the Penn Quakers in college soccer. Last week, he made his starting XI debut in a 5-0 win over Defence Force in the Concacaf Champions Cup and then came off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to D.C. United in MLS last weekend. Korzeniowski received a starting market value of €250,000

For San Diego FC, new signing Bryan Zamblé came off the bench in a 5-0 win over CF Montréal. Signed from the Right to Dream Academy, the 18-year-old Ivorian striker didn’t take long to make an impact as he scored four minutes after coming off the bench. Zamblé received a starting market value of 500,000. Elsewhere, Sporting Kansas City's 19-year-old center-back Kwaku Agyabeng received a starting market value of €250,000, and Real Salt Lake’s 17-year-old center-back Luca Moisa received a starting market value of €200,000. Of note, Transfermarkt has scheduled an intermediate market-value update for April 7, 2026, focusing on talent and new signings.

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
