At Transfermarkt we began calculating our market values all the way back in 2004 - 21 years later and they are now world-renowned, cited by clubs, agents, scouts and even players themselves. Across the years, many players have seen their market values shoot up to make up them one of the world's most valuable stars. Of course, inflation and the nature of the market means that players nowadays are worth a lot more than they were 20 years ago, but certain superstars defied their eras. With all this in mind, we have compiled a list of the 30 most valuable players in Transfermarkt history to make a star-studded collection of past and present icons.
Four players in the history of Transfermarkt market values have hit the €200 million mark. Leading the way in first place because he was just 17 years of age when he achieved that feat is none other than Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. The teenage sensation remains the most valuable player in the world right now at that same figure. Second on the list is French striker Kylian Mbappé who hit a career-high €200m back in 2018 when he was just 19 at PSG. Third goes to Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior who hit €200m last year aged 24 but has since dropped down to €150m. Manchester striker Erling Haaland then takes fourth having got to €200m in 2024 aged 24. We then have three played who made it to €180m.

Fifth goes to Real Madrid attacking midfielder Jude Bellingham who hit €180m in 2023 aged 20 and has remained at that figure ever since. Neymar also reached €180m in 2018 aged 25 at PSG, whilst the great Lionel Messi hit the same value in 2017 at Barcelona. Raheem Sterling then takes eighth on the list, after he hit €160m when at Manchester City in 2019. There are then nine players who have hit €150m, with Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden taking ninth and tenth respectively having both hit that value aged 23 last year.
