101 players updated

Transfermarkt has updated the market values of 101 players competing in the Eredivisie. Among the very top players, there is very little change. Indeed, the four most valuable players of the Eredivisie, Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber (€30m), Ajax’s Kenneth Taylor (€28m), and the two PSV Eindhoven stars Ismael Saibari (€27m) and Joey Veerman (€25m) remain unchanged.
Only Josip Sutalo drops among the top five players playing in the Eredivisie. Ajax’s Croatian defender saw his market value drop by €2m to now €22m. That is the same market value as Jerdy Schouten from PSV, with whom Sutalo now shares the fifth spot among the most valuable players in the Netherlands. “Sutalo has been struggling with an injury and hasn’t played many minutes yet for Ajax side, which overall has been struggling,” Transfermarkt Content Manager Netherlands Owen van Leeuwen said.
Although Sutalo saw his market value drop, other Ajax players saw their market value increase. Those players include young up-and-coming stars Youri Baas (+€3m to €15m) and Mika Godts (+€3m to €13m). Another player with a significant upgrade was Ajax’s goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros. The 24-year-old saw his market value increase by 50% from €4m to €6m.
Eredivisie market values: Dest and Van Bommel up – El Karouani one to watch
Outside of Ajax, players also impressed, including the son of former Bayern Munich and PSV star Mark Van Bommel. Ruben van Bommel has taken the Eredivisie by storm, and the 21-year-old forward saw his market value improve by €4m from €8m to €12m. The forward has scored three goals in six Eredivisie games this season. Another PSV player who has stood out is US men’s national team right-back Sergiño Dest. “Dest and Van Bommel are the stars of a PSV side that hasn’t always impressed,” Van Leeuwen said. “They deserve their upgrades.” Dest saw his market value improve by €2m from €16m to €18m.
At Feyenoord, Anis Hadj Moussa and Givairo Read are the standout players of this market value update. Hadj Moussa saw his market value improve from €14m to €20m, and Read from €16m to €20m. “Together, Hadj Moussa and Read have dominated the right flank for Feyenoord,” Van Leeuwen said. The right winger and right-back have indeed found great chemistry and have been the best players of the Rotterdam club. “Hopefully, we’ll see more of them this season in the Eredivisie and Europa League.”
A player to watch away from the top clubs is Souffian El Karouani from FC Utrecht. “He has attracted interest from Bologna and Marseille in the summer but opted to stay at Utrecht,” Van Leeuwen said. “He bet on himself, and it seems to be working out as he has already provided four assists in seven Eredivisie games.” El Karouani saw his market value improve by 33.3% from €9m to €12m. It will only be a matter of time until a club from a top-five league will sign the 24-year-old Moroccan national team player.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
