This last summer, Transfermarkt users were once again able to vote for the ‘Player of the Season’ in Europe’s top leagues. In the Bundesliga, England captain Harry Kane was selected by the TM-Community and proudly presented the award on social media.
After scoring 26 goals and providing 10 assists in 31 Bundesliga games, 33% of users voted for Kane. Kane finished ahead of former Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz (16.5%) and his teammate Michael Olise (15.7%). The English striker hasn’t missed a beat this season, scoring goal after goal, breaking several records already this season.
“Harry Kane breaks one record after another—this weekend he became the fastest player to score 100 goals among all players playing in a top five league in the modern era,” Transfermarkt CEO Thomas Lintz said. “It isn’t surprising then that the global Transfermarkt community voted for him as the 2024/25 Bundesliga Player of the Season.”
The 32-year-old thanked his fans and voters from the TM-Community for the award with a photo greeting. TM-CEO Lintz recently confirmed that the award has long been established as a permanent fixture among professionals, following the thanks expressed by LaLiga winner Lamine Yamal: "The response to our Player of the Season award shows the international appeal of Transfermarkt. When stars like Ousmane Dembélé, Mohamed Salah or Lamine Yamal hold our award in their hands, it is a special tribute to all the users in our community who cast their votes."
TM users could choose from 24 players across 19 leagues worldwide to vote for their Player of the Season. The Player of the Season award encompasses all of Europe’s top five leagues, Major League Soccer, the Süper Lig, as well as competitions such as the J-League and countries like Indonesia and Greece.
