REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Palestinian Ambassador Abdulfatah AK Alsattri thanked all Indonesian volunteers who were kidnapped by Israeli soldiers this week. The nine volunteers, including two Republika journalists, Thoudy Badai and Bambang Noroyono arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport on Sunday (24/5/2026) afternoon. Ambassador Abdulfatah said what the Indonesian volunteers did, and the Global Sumud Flotila 2.0 movement did was greatly appreciated by WargaPalestine, not only in Gaza.

“Thank you Indonesian people, thank you President Prabowo Subianto, thank you Indonesian government, this is a tremendous support for our country,” Abdulfatah told Republika when he met at Soekarno Hatta Airport Sunday afternoon. He welcomed the return of the volunteers.

Ambassador Abdulfatah said that the people of Gaza are waiting for the arrival of volunteers, as well as waiting for incoming aid. “These volunteers have breathed the air of Gaza! Our citizens want to welcome them! We open the doors of our house to them! We would like to thank them for their support!” Abdulfatah said.

He added that the volunteers were ready to bring food and medicine needed by the people of Gaza. “But the israeli zionist government is not allowing that aid in.

”Abdulfatah said that he is also happy that volunteers from Indonesia can return safely to their families, fathers, mothers, wives, children. He joined the families of volunteers who were previously unaware of their whereabouts after being kidnapped by Israeli soldiers on Monday, May 18.

“This is a happy day for me too, because they, the heroes of the Indonesian people can return home and family,” Abdulfatah said.
