The 2025/26 already seems firmly in the past with attention now laser-focused on the World Cup. International football is undoubtedly at the forefront of people’s minds but attention will switch back to the domestic game after the World Cup final on July 17th. It’s been less than three weeks since the Champions League final ended the season with PSG successfully defending their title by defeating Arsenal on penalties.
After the culmination of the top five league campaigns, Transfermarkt released their final market value updates of the season for all the major leagues around the world. Erling Haaland and Lamine Yamal remained the most valuable players in the world at €200m with Kylian Mbappé dropping to €180m. For the first time in history, PSG have the most valuable squad in the world at €1.37 billion after major upgrades in the Ligue 1 update. Now the final market values have been published, we can calculate which players enjoyed the biggest upgrades across last season?
Biggest market value upgrades in 2025/26 season
No player’s market value increased more across the 2025/26 season than Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season at RB Leipzig, contributing 23 goal contributions in 36 games to earn interest from the biggest European clubs. After joining from Leganes, Diomade’s market value stood at just €1.5m but it has skyrocketed by €88.5m to his current valuation of €90m. Vitinha and João Neves both received €60m upgrades to the same €140m valuation with Neves ranking higher due to being younger, which is Transfermarkt policy.
As the graphic above illustrates, four Bundesliga feature in the top ten, which is more than any other league with Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl joining Diomande in the top ten. Junior Kroupi and Nico O’Reilly are the only two English Premier League representatives, while Barcelona’s Fermín López is the only LaLiga player. Serie A is the only top five league without a player in the top ten.
