Fulham have announced the signing of highly-rated striker Jonah Kusi-Asare from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal. The 18-year-old made 10 first-team appearances for the Cottagers in 2025/26 and, while he didn't manage to score, the Swedish forward certainly made an impression on Fulham's youth coaches. The west London club have agreed to pay €6 million for the teenager and he has signed a contract until June 2031.
Kusi-Asare had very little time to make a name for himself in the Premier League, featuring for a total of 49 minutes across seven substitute appearances. But he caught the eye playing for their Under-21 development squad, scoring four times in just five appearances - averaging a goal every 92 minutes. With Raúl Jiménez leaving for Wolves on a free transfer, first-team opportunities may be easier to come by under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
“I’m very happy to be a permanent Fulham player. From my first week here, it was very good – I felt like I was a part of the Fulham family," Kusi-Asare told the club's official website. “The changing room was very nice, team, staff, so I’m very happy to stay here.”

Tony Khan, the vice-chairman and sporting director at Fulham, expressed his excitement at landing a player of Kusi-Asare's calibre and potential: “I’m thrilled to welcome Jonah Kusi-Asare to Fulham on a long-term contract. We believe that he is a very talented young player with massive potential and a bright future, and we’re very happy that Jonah is joining the club permanently now following his time with us on loan.”
Bayern insert buy-back clause
The fee agreed with Fulham is a significant reduction on the reported buyout clause written into his loan deal, which was thought to be as high as €12 million. Bild report that Bayern have included a buy-back clause in the deal, giving them first option to re-sign Kusi-Asare in the future. That could be crucial further down the line because it allows the Bundesliga giants to bring him back if he develops into the player they think he can be.
It has proved to be a useful tool for Real Madrid, who have often profited from offloading youngsters such as Nico Paz and buying them back for reasonable fees when they improve, either to play for their first team or sell on for a large profit. It has not been disclosed exactly how much Bayern would have to shell out if they were to re-sign the Sweden Under-21 international, but Fulham were happy to oblige.
In any case, it represents a tidy profit for Bayern. Kusi-Asare was plucked from Swedish side AIK for a reported fee of €3.5 million in February 2024 when he was just 16. In addition to the €4 million loan fee paid by Fulham, they have nearly tripled their initial investment in the space of two years.
Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport, hinted that Bayern are more than happy to continue developing players in this manner. “Jonah joined Bayern at the age of 16 and is a further example of how we develop international talent at the highest level," he said. "He was able to impress the people at Fulham last season, so he will now be setting his sights on his next goals there. We wish him all the best for the future.”
