Commission XI of the Parliament Appoints Thomas Djiwandono as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia

Candidate for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) who is also Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono took the due diligence and propriety or fit and proper test of the candidate for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia in the Chamber of Commission XI DPR, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (26/1/2026).

REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Commission XI of the Parliament of Indonesia decided that Thomas Djiwandono was elected Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the next five years. The decision was officially announced by the Chairman of Commission XI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, after the fit and proper test process.

“It was agreed through the consensus deliberation process and then included in the internal meeting in Commission XI that it was decided which Deputy Governor of Central Bank would replace Mr Juda Agung who resigned was Mr Thomas Djiwandono,” Misbakhun told reporters at Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (26/1/2026).

Misbakhun said the decision was taken on the basis of a joint agreement between the heads of the commission as well as all factions of political parties consisting of eight political parties present and assessing the candidates in a fit and proper test process. Misbakhun also said the decision was taken in about 30 minutes.

It is known that the position of Deputy Governor of BI was briefly vacant after Juda resigned on January 13, 2026. Along with the resignations, President Prabowo Subianto and BI Governor recommended three names of candidates, namely Solikin M Juhro, Dicky Kartikoyono, and Thomas Djiwandono.
