For many clubs and fans alike, the March international break can cause some frustration as it disrupts the pivotal run-in stage of the season. However, it provides a vital period for national team managers to assess their options, and there is of course the small matter of the World Cup play-offs. As many as 16 European nations, two CONCACAF sides, one South American country, one African nation, one Asian outfit and the south west Pacific Island of New Caledonia will attempt to book their place at this summer's World Cup in North America.

For the people back at the clubs, it's a nervy couple of weeks as teams and managers pray that all of their internationals make it back into the training ground fully fit. But which clubs have suffered the most upheaval this March? Here at Transfermarkt, we have calculated the number of players in international squads for every top five league team and put together a list of the top 20 clubs who have the most stars jetting abroad.

Which clubs have most players in international squads?

Leading the way with the most players in international squads is recent EFL Cup-winners Manchester City and Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain. Both have 17 stars away this March. There are then three sides who have 15 players on international duty this spring: German giants Bayern Munich, Italian side Juventus and incredibly, 14th-placed Premier League outfit Crystal Palace. Atalanta, Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and newly-promoted Sunderland all then have 14 internationals.

Spanish giants Barcelona are the only team with 13 international stars this March, whilst there are then nine teams who have 12 players on international duty: Arsenal, Brentford, Fulham, Inter Milan, Leeds, Liverpool, Napoli, Tottenham and Wolfsburg.
