The New York Giants addressed their need at cornerback Tuesday, agreeing with Greg Newsome II on a one-year deal worth up to $10 million, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Giants, who were active Monday on the opening day of the free agent negotiating period, faced questions at cornerback after Cor'Dale Flott, who spent his first four NFL seasons in New York, opted to join the Tennessee Titans.

With several other free agent cornerbacks also joining other teams Monday, the Giants turned to Newsome, a 2021 first-round draft selection who was traded by the Cleveland Browns to the Jacksonville Jaguars last October.

Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said the day after the trade for Newsome that signing him to an extension was "not out of the realm of possibility" but added that Jacksonville would wait to see how the rest of the season played out.

Newsome had one interception, six pass breakups and 29 tackles in 12 games -- 11 starts -- with the Jaguars. He had 52 tackles and nine pass breakups total in 2025, and his 99.1 passer rating in coverage was the 26th-worst mark among cornerbacks with at least 200 coverage snaps, according to NextGen Stats.

Cleveland selected Newsome with the 26th overall pick in 2021 and picked up his fifth-year option, giving him a 2025 salary of $13.38 million.

Newsome was an outside cornerback as a rookie but moved inside to nickel after the Browns drafted Martin Emerson Jr. in 2022. Newsome struggled in 2024 but regained his outside spot in training camp in 2025 after Emerson suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

Newsome has four interceptions, 43 pass breakups and 207 tackles in five seasons.

ESPN's Michael DiRocco contributed to his report.
