Erick Thohir Responds to Pelita Air and Garuda's Merger Plan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir responds to the merger discussion between PT Pelita Air Service and PT Garuda Indonesia. Erick said the process is entering the study phase by the Investment Management Agency (BPI) of Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara).

“We basically support what Danantara will do,” Erick said after a working meeting (raker) with the VI DPR Commission on the Adjustment of the Ministry of BUMN TA 2026 RKA at DPR Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday (15/9/2025).

Erick explained that the Ministry of state-owned enterprises fully supports the ongoing study process in Danantara. He said that the Ministry of state-owned enterprises will give full approval after the review process has been completed.

“We from the Ministry of state-owned enterprises will follow the policy that Danantara will carry out later. If only we approved the end. So the review process is in Danantara,” Erick said.

Previously, PT Pertamina (Persero) planned to continue the transformation of one of its businesses by releasing a number of subsidiaries. One of Pertamina's aviation business lines, PT Pelita Air Service (PAS), is being studied to join Garuda Indonesia.

Other sectors, such as insurance, healthcare, hospitality, and Patra Jasa will also be consolidated according to the roadmap prepared. Pertamina emphasized that it will strengthen its organizational structure by establishing a Directorate of Business Transformation and Sustainability.
